Martha G. Aliwalas, M.D.
Martha G. Aliwalas, M.D.

Dr. Aliwalas obtained a B.S. degree in Biology from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and a Medical degree from the State University of NY at Buffalo, School of Medicine, in Buffalo, NY. She completed a Family Practice Residency Program as well as a one year Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, St. Margaret, Pittsburgh PA. Dr. Aliwalas previously practiced at Lynn Community Health Center in Lynn, MA, an underserved clinic before joining CNY Family Care. She is Licensed as a Physician by the University of the State of NY Education Department, Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Joseph P. Augustine, M.D.
Joseph P. Augustine, M.D.

Dr. Augustine obtained a B.S. degree in physics from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and his Medical Degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY. He completed a Family Medicine Residency Program at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. Augustine is Licensed as a Physician by the State of New York Education Dept., Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. He is an attending physician at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse as well as the Chairman of the Family Medicine Dept. since 2003. Dr. Augustine is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Karen E. Beckman, M.D.
Karen E. Beckman, M.D.

Dr. Karen Eberly Beckman became a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine in 1998. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Rochester and Master's Degree in Education from SUNY Cortland. Dr. Beckman earned her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Albany Medical College in 1995 and completed her Family Medicine Residency at St.Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. Dr. Beckman is from Cortland, N.Y. and currently resides in Fayetteville with her husband and three children.
 

Louis Bonavita, Jr., M.D.
Louis Bonavita, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Louis Bonavita, Jr. obtained a B.S. Degree in biology from St. Bonaventure University in 1984, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr Bonavita then obtained his medical degree in 1988 from the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York, graduating with high honors. He was inducted into the AOA Medical Honor Society and also received the Bruce Farrell Memorial Award for medical excellence at graduation.

Dr. Bonavita completed a Family Practice Residency Program at St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1991. He was elected Chief Resident in his final year. Upon graduation he received the Society of Family Medicine's Teacher Award.

Dr. Bonavita and his wife moved back to Central New York and started a family, raising three sons and one daughter. He is one of the founding partners of CNY Family Care, LLP. In addition, Dr. Bonavita was awarded the New York State Family Physician of the year in 2003.

Dr. Bonavita is Licensed by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. He is board certified in Family Practice and is a Diplomat and Fellow of the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Bonavita has special interest in the areas of dermatology, orthopedics, cardiology, gynecology and urology.

Dr. Christiano obtained a B.A. degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA., and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY. He completed a Family Practice Residence Program at Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. Dr. Christiano is Licensed as a Physician by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. He is also certified as a Diplomate with the American Board of Family Medicine [ABFM].

Stephanie A. Clapper, MD
Stephanie A. Clapper, MDDr. Stephanie A. Clapper received a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from St, Lawrence University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2004.  She received the Degree of Doctor of Medicine from Albany Medical College in 2008. She completed a Family Practice Residency Program at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y. where she was Chief Resident.

Dr. Clapper is Licensed as a Physician by the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. She is also board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Clapper joined CNY Family Care in August 2011.
 
Paul A. Fiacco, M.D.
Paul A. Fiacco, M.D.

Dr. Fiacco obtained a B.S. degree, with Honors, from Syracuse University and a Medical Degree from the College of Medicine at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY. He also completed a Family Medicine Residency Program at the State University of New York Health Science Center. 

Dr. Fiacco is Licensed by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  In the field of medicine, Dr. Fiacco has a special interest in Clinical Research and outcome studies and on a personal level enjoys Lacrosse.

Anthony J. Malvasi, D.O.

Dr. Anthony Malvasi obtained a B.S. degree from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY in 2007. He then went on for further study at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania where he received his “Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine” in 2012.  

He is currently finishing a Family Practice Residency Program at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, New York.

Dr. Malvasi is Licensed as a Physician by the State of NY Education Department, Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery.

He will be joining CNY Family Care in mid-August, 2016.

Michael P. Mincolla, MD
Michael P. Mincolla, MDDr. Mincolla obtained a B.S. degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. He then went on to further study at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. He recently completed a Family Practice Residency Program at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y.

Dr. Mincolla is Licensed as a Physician by the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions,  and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. He is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine. His interests include pediatric/adolescent medicine, sports medicine and chronic disease management.

Dr. Mincolla joined CNY Family Care in August 2011.

Dr. Picciano obtained a B.S. degree in Biology, Magna Cum Laude, from LeMoyne College in 1985, and a Medical Degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY in 1989. He completed a Family Practice Residence Program at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY in 1992.

Dr. Picciano is Licensed as a Physician by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions, and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Elizabeth Saarie, M.D.

Dr. Saarie is a Board Certified Fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine.

She obtained a B.S. degree, Cum Laude with Honors in Biology, from Syracuse University and her Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. She is married to a pediatrician and has three children.

James L. Tarala, MD
James L. Tarala, MD

Dr. Tarala obtained a B.S. degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY and his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed the Family Medicine Residency Program at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center that is also located in Syracuse, NY. 

Dr. Tarala is licensed as a Physician by the University of the State of New York Education Dept., Office of the Professions and qualified to practice Medicine and Surgery. He is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Tarala is an Associate Clinical Professor at Upstate Medical University and has special interest in diabetes, obesity management, sports medicine, disease prevention and nutrition.

Dr. Tarala joined CNY Family Care in August 2010.

Betsy Carlisle, PA-C
Betsy Carlisle, PA-C

Betsy obtained a B.S. Degree in Biology, Cum Laude, from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a M.S. Degree in Physician Assistant Studies, Cum Laude from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey in Piscataway, New Jersey. She is licensed as a Physician Assistant by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions and Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Rachael L Cavelli, FNP-C
Rachael L Cavelli, FNP-CRachael L. Cavelli, FNP-C returned to CNY Family Care in August 2012 after living with her family for a few years in North Carolina.

She obtained an A.A.S. degree in the Registered Nurse Program at Onondaga Community College and completed the course requirements as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y.

She is licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professionals. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AAN).

When she is not at work, Rachael enjoys spending relaxing time with her family and close friends and she particularly enjoys traveling to the caribbean islands.
Andrea L. Curtis, PA-C

Andrea Curtis obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Nazareth College in 2008. She continued her education at both Onondaga Community College and Le Moyne College concentrating on the sciences as well as Physician Assistant studies. She graduated with a Masters of Science degree from the Physician Assistant Studies Program at Le Moyne College in 2014.

She has worked as a Primary Care Physician Assistant in Syracuse since October 2014.

Andrea is licensed as a Physician Assistant by the University of the State of New York, Education Department, Office of the Professions, And she is certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants [(NCCPA].

Andrea will start training with CNY Family Care on June 20th. We anticipate that she will start seeing patients in July.

Melissa obtained a B.S. degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Physician Assistant Sciences from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She is Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions.

Jessica Le obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Lemoyne College in conjunction with clinical requirements obtained at St. Joseph's College of Nursing. She received a Master's degree from Upstate Medical University where her focus was on becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.

She is licensed by the State of New York, Education Department, Office of the Professions as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health and certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP].

Jessica has experience working in a medical intensive care unit, and many of her required clinical hours focused on adults, pediatrics, women's health and geriatric patients.

Theresa M Lucason, PA-CTheresa  Lucason obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Magna Cum Laude, from LeMoyne College in 2006 and obtained her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2009 (also from LeMoyne College).  

She is Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the  University of the State of New York, Education Department, Office of the Professions and she is Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants [NCCPA].

Amy L. Luchsinger, FNP-CAmy Luchsinger obtained a B.S. degree from Cornell University, an Associate’s degree/RN from Crouse Hospital College of Nursing and a M.S. degree in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.

Amy is licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of New York, Education Department, Office of the Professions and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Kristin E. Mullally, FNPKristin Mullally obtained a B.S. degree in Nursing and a M.S. degree in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y. in 2008. She is Board Certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center [ANCC] and has worked at a family medical care center in the local area for the past 2 1/2 years. Prior to her career as a Nurse Practitioner, she worked for 7 years as a Nurse in the Medical ICU at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

When Kristin is not working she enjoys being a mom as well as being competitive in cycling races, running races as well as Triathlons.

She continued her education at LeMoyne College and graduated with a Master of Science degree from the Physician Assistant Studies program in August of 2013.

Kristin worked for an urgent care facility in the Albany area prior to accepting a position with our group this past July.

Piek obtained a B.S. degree, Summa Cum Laude, in the Coordinated Dietetics Program with a minor in biology from Syracuse University, College of Human Development in Syracuse, NY. She is certified as a Diabetes Educator through the National Certification Board for Diabetes Education and is a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She has a special interest in Diabetes Prevention & Management, Adult & Pediatric Weight Management, Clinical Nutrition & Human Metabolism.

Annette Tolone, FNP-CAnnette Tolone, FNP-C completed the course requirements as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. She joined CNY Family Care, LLP in 1999.

She is licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health by the University of the State of New York Education Department, Office of the Professions. Annette is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
